There's A Monster Inside Me (And I Know It)
There's a monster on this Earth.
I know you don't know what life is really worth.
Anarchy and freedom.
the pressure of competition.
Lies and ugliness.
Please get out of this new mess.
At wars with our friends.
The battle never ends.
There is nothing good about mankind.
The pressure will turn you blind.
We are doomed to this position.
The pressure of competition.
Lies and ugliness.
It'll soon be time to confess.
The war will wage on.
Without the pressure of competition.
This song was written by Neil after a break-up with his boyfriend and a feeling of dissatisfaction with his life. When Neil is at his saddest, he likes to watch the classic Monsters Inc, hence where the inspiration for this song came from, as Sully and Mike always bring a smile to his big face. This is a tragic song full of beautiful poetry and imaginative imagery. Surprisingly up-tempo for its subject matter, this song always gets the crowd jumping and sobbing heavily at the same time - quite an amazing sight but has led to a few slips. The message of the song is that we all have a monster inside us, aching to get out and do all sorts of business that will only cause harm to yourself and others around you. Embrace freedom and anarchy and be the person you want to be. Escape is just around the corner – you just need to look harder. This song is still in a development stage but is one of our most popular live numbers – it will be released on iTunes and Amazon.co.uk once we have finished recording and ensured that it is safe to play in public.
